Distribution Engineering Manager – Loughborough

Zest Business Group is actively seeking an experienced Distribution Engineering Manager to work for a major distributor of scientific laboratory equipment.

Job Title: Distribution Engineering Manager.
Background: Engineering Management, European Distribution, Industrial / Mechanical Engineering.
Reporting to: European Operations Director.
Salary: £55K - £65k + Car, Benefits.
Location - Loughborough

This position will support the strategic direction of the European Distribution network evolution by analyzing and implementing the operating process, physical infrastructure, and material handling equipment best suited for the operation. The Distribution Engineering Manager is responsible for determining the most effective ways to use the basic factors of operations staff, machines, materials, and information. This individual will be required to regularly interact and work directly with multiple departments including, risk management, indirect sourcing, distribution, transportation, and general management.

Qualification / skills / experience - minimum requirements;

- Bachelor of Science degree (or equivalent) in Industrial / Mechanical Engineering.
- Strong Industrial Engineering experience within a highly automated and complex distribution environment.
- Working knowledge of infrastructure and operational needs of multiple distribution centers
- Experience in managing complex projects related to facility design and construction and existing facility retrofits.
- Proven experience with Labor Management and MOST (Maynard Operational Sequence Technique).
- Experience and understanding of Risk Management within distribution centers, storing and handling dangerous goods.
- Experience with and the utilization of Indirect Sourcing.
- Must have a high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office products with a strong emphasis in MS Excel, MS Access, MS Project, MS Visio, and Visual Basic programming.
- Proficient in AutoCAD and Warehouse Management systems. SQL experience a plus.
- Must be able to work independently and as a team.
- Must have strong communication skills in order to properly convey the organizational vision and company goals and objectives to associates and document operational plans.
- Must possess the analytical qualities to make sound decisions decision, through the conceptualization and evaluation of different courses of action to meet or exceed operational goals.
