Optical Eyewear Laboratory Supervisor Jobs in Surrey.  Zest Medical are working in partnership with a leading manufacturer and supplier of eyewear to the high street retail and optical outlets.  Based from their head office, final assembly, test and dristribution facilities in Surrey the Test Laboratory Supervisor will be responsible for the efficient and safe day to day running of the Test Laboratory; maintenance of process and product standards required to meet company accreditation and customer expectations; and must deputise for all head office located test and quality responsibilities in the absence of the Supplier & Test Laboratory Manager.

The role falls outside the normal glazing lab, optical production or dispensing technician's role.  It requires a broad understanding of ophthalmic eyewear requirements combined with an understanding of manufacturing engineering and an appreciation of supply retail chain methodologies. 

 This role is an interesting and varied one involving supervision and hands-on implementation, input and support in the Day to day supervision of a skilled optical laboratory workforce consisting of inspectors and test technicians.  Support of the Company's design and development functions to ensure that newly developed products are fit for purpose and the use of suitable methodologies and equipment to carry out designated tasks.  You will be responsible for the maintenance and calibration of all equipment used for measuring purposes and monitoring, control and purchase of suitable test laboratory supplies.

You will need to be from a strong optical / testing & manufacturing background with experience of management systems ie: Quality Management ISO9001.  You will have awareness and knowledge of the UKAS accreditation board.  Ultimately you will be highly motivated with sound technical knowledge but also have the ability to communicate effectively for this supervisory role.
